Beginner/gentle Yoga

New to Yoga?

Come and learn Yoga in a way that is designed to suit you.

Our beginner course will teach you the basics of Yoga at an appropriate level.

You will always be encouraged to practice at a pace which is good for you, allowing you to have a good internal experience.

The course is designed to deepen your understanding of yoga while taking each class step by step to ensure you feel confident.

The course is perfect for those who have never tried Yoga before or those wishing to deepen their knowledge, confidence and refinement of the postures.

Yoga

Sivananda is a form of Hatha Yoga, a traditional form in which the training focuses on preserving the practitioner's health and wellness. Sivananda yoga revolves around relaxation, meditation, breath work, and physical practice (working at each individual's level), emphasising full yogic breathing.

It also aims to retain the body's vitality and decrease the chance of disease by simply and naturally cultivating the body.

Classes average 90 minutes and typically follow the below format

  • Practitioner resting in relaxation

  • Breathing exercises

  • Sun Salutations (Spinal Movements)

  • 12 Basic Postures (can include variations)

  • Final Relaxation

Each person learns the same practice at a level appropriate for them, tailored to their needs and requirements.

Restorative Yoga

Class Information

  • Class terms run to coincide with school terms.

  • Workshops and casual classes run to coincide with school holidays.

  • Please bring a mat and towel to each class.

  • Wear comfortable clothing.

  • Avoid eating at least two hours before class.

  • Arrive at least five minutes early to avoid disrupting others.

  • Missed classes can be made up within the 10-week term.

  • Class times may vary or change each term.
